Bangkok Curry Bowl Native Foods Costa Mesa

New “Bangkok Curry Bowl” at Native Foods

It’s next to impossible to drive through Orange County without a stop at Native Foods. I can’t help it, the car knows the way & suddenly we’re there, which is exactly what happened on my way home from the central coast a few weekends ago. I stopped off in Santa Barbara for a quick & lite lunch, knowing full well that I’d get stuck in LA traffic, work my appetite back up & arrive near Costa Mesa at dinner time. Costa Mesa = Native Foods. And I did arrive right around 5 pm, but to my surprise, I wasn’t very hungry. What to do? Keep going & miss out on a delicious meal, or stop & force feed myself? Knowing that once I stepped into the magical place that is Native Foods my appetite would come bounding back, I “let the car” drive me there.

And wouldn’t you know it, the minute I stepped foot in the door & glanced at the menu the hunger pangs ensued (ok I am being a little dramatic). Then for the hard part…what do I order? A few new items tempted my tastebuds - the “Classic Deil Rueben,” "Roasted Chile Taco Trio" & "Bangkok Curry Bowl," along with some of my old favorites - the "Sesame Kale Macro Bowl," "Portobello & Sausage Burger," & Native Nachos.”

In the end I erred on the side of “healthy,” while also expanding my horizons & trying something new. As I love, love, love curry dishes I decided on the…

Bangkok Curry Bowl with seared tofu steak on top of steamed veggies, greens & brown rice with a lemongrass & ginger-infused coconut milk curry. Topped with sesame seeds & cilantro.”

I am sure I need not convince all you Native enthusiasts out there that this bowl was epic. It was, much to my delight, super spicy & chock full of delicious veggies - kale, carrots, zucchini, cauliflower & red bell pepper. Need I say more? Delicious & nutritious, & full of the usual NF amazingness for sure! I washed it down with my favorite "Lavender Lemonade" & got my booty outta there fast enough to move past the to-go case full of "Peanut Butter Parfaits"….mmmm, wish I had one of those NOW!

So, now all I need to know is what is going on with the proposed Encinitas location? Last I heard there were permit issues, & the now location is no longer listed on the website as “coming soon”!?! Are you not bringing your awesomeness to San Diego? Say it ain’t so, Native Foods!
