A Vegetarian Thanksgiving Feast!!!

Hope everyone has been enjoying this lovely Thanksgiving day!

I celebrated with my family at our vacation home in Julian, a sleepy country town in the San Diego mountains. The sun was shining, but it was a bleak 44 degrees at noon! Burr! This was the first time in 5 years that my brother has joined us for Thanksgiving, so it was really nice to have him here!

We had quite the foodie spread, as usual, & way more eats than we needed! It was delicious & fabulous as always. I am the only “mostly vegan,” besides my Mom who is vegetarian, so we are always trying to find creative ways to trick our family into eating vegan foods & we managed to pull it off with a few dishes!

While most of the fam still had their traditional turkey (yuck), a tradition I could never change, my Mom & I greatly enjoyed our Gardein Savory Stuffed Turk’y! This blows Tofurky, of which I am not a fan, clear out of the water. Here is the rest of our menu:

To Drink:

Hor D’Oeuvres:

  • My Aunt Jan’s “Traditional Curry Dip” veganized with Tofutti Vegan Cream Cheese & Vegan Sour Cream
  • Cheese plate with Herbed Chevre & English Wensleydale Cheese with Cranberries (I only cheat on occasion with “vegetarian cheeses”)
  • Dried Apricots & Figs

Mains & Sides:

OMG! I’m stuffed! Time to work it off with our newest tradition - “Wii Tennis Match Showdown” & then…..dessert!

Stay tuned! My vegan “Pumpkin Cheesecake” is coming up!
