Magical Miso

I wrapped up my little 2 day mini-cleanse with a nourishing bowl of this…

Miso Soup from 101 Cookbooks (Photo via HS).

My mini cleanse started out fantastically. I felt light, clear, & energized. I went to yoga, dry brushed, took an epsom salt bath, drank lots of tea & detox cocktail, & ate noting but Detoxifying Salad & steamed veggies.

I woke up this morning with bright eyes & supple skin, had steamed veggies for breakfast, went to gentle yoga & meditation, & then I blew it. No, not by getting into the leftover cheesecake (well…not until later), but by pushing myself to go for a run. It was such a beautiful day & I wanted to take advantage of the fresh air & sunshine. My plan was to walk briskly, but that walk turned into a light jog & that is where I went wrong. I pushed myself a little too far.

Feeling depleted & dehydrated, I knew that some warm broth might make me feel better - more specifically, miso. Miso is known to be very healing & nourishing as it is full of zinc, magnesium, copper, & iron, which are important in stimulating immune function, healing wounds, boosting energy production & antioxidants. It’s also a great source of protein & B12 for us vegans! Enough said, miso soup for me!

I went to 101 Cookbooks (one of my favorite go-to sources) & found a simple recipe, livened up with soba noodles - which are also full of antioxidants & essential amino acids as well. It was perfect. Not long after I slurped up the noodles & guzzled the broth, I began to feel like myself again. And that is when I got into the cheesecake, go figure.

Guess the cleanse is over…
