Two very special people “got committed” today - my cousin Taj & her beloved Amy. I wish I could say they “got officially married,” but that will come…soon, I hope. How Soon is Now? After witnessing this magical union, it became even more evident to me that there is no reason that two people with such a strong bond & love for each other should not be allowed to legally marry. But let’s not get political…

As many friends & family are vegetarian or vegan, this was a very veg-friendly affair. There were mostly vegetarian & a few strict vegan offerings…some homemade, like the vegan stuffed mushrooms & the vegan cupcakes my Mom & I made (which were a hit!), & the rest catered by Urban Kitchen & Extraordinary Desserts

I had on my vegetarian hat today,as that blasted cheese plate gets me every time! Everything was delicious, but the food highlight for me was a glorious salad of “arugula, fresh persimmons, hearts of palm, candied walnuts, & fried onions.” The most divine salad ever! I must recreate it.

What an extraordinary day full of love, warmth, joy, family, & friends. The sweet “Newlyweds” are hopping on a plane to Paris tomorrow for a month long honeymoon & I could not be more envious…but tickled for them, I am! Congratulations to Taj & Amy!
