Somebody had a birthday yesterday & Lucie & I were there to celebrate!
Happy Birthday to my Mom’s sweet doggie, Beatrice! Around here, dogs are treated like part of the family. So, naturally, dog birthdays include parties with special doggie treats, presents, & birthday hats. Can you guess which part she was NOT excited about?

Homemade Canine Cakes!
One of the highlights of VVC was meeting the adorable & talented Hannah Kaminsky, whose blog, Bittersweet, was one of the first vegan food blogs I followed. Receiving Hannah’s book, My Sweet Vegan, in the swag bag was wonderful surprise & it is full of sweet & scrumptious recipes that I cannot wait to try. Nestled between “Bananas Foster Cake” & “Caramel Macchiato Cheesecake” was this sweet little recipe for our canine friends. My mom whipped up the recipe & baked individual “pupcakes” for each of the dogs & they loved them!
Sure beats the heck out of the gross Twinkies they usually get on birthdays! Hope your birthday was the BEST Miss Beattie-Beat!
